Outdoor Ice Rink at Hideout Mountain Park
Lace up and enjoy a true Montana winter tradition at our outdoor ice rink, open roughly late January through March, weather permitting. Maintained by the Florence Civic Club, this community rink is a favorite gathering spot for families, friends, and skaters of all skill levels. Please note that while the rink is cared for as much as possible, it is not maintained daily, and ice conditions can change with the weather.
Thanks to community support, we offer over 60 pairs of free-to-borrow figure and hockey skates, ranging from toddler sizes through adult men’s size 13. Helmets and hockey sticks are also available at no cost, making it easy for everyone to join in the fun.
For safety, a Civic Club member will unlock the gate when the rink is open. If the gate is locked, the ice surface is unsafe and the rink is closed. When the gate is open, grab your gear and enjoy winter fun—free and open to the public.
1/21/2026 - Due to unseasonably warm weather in Montana this year, we’ve made the difficult decision to forgo our seasonal ice rink until next winter. Our maintenance crew and the Florence Civic Club worked hard to set the rink up this year; however, we simply haven’t had the necessary sustained cold temperatures to safely flood and freeze the ice. Unfortunately, current conditions don’t give us confidence that we can open the rink safely. Thin ice would pose a serious safety risk and could also damage our tarp. We’re truly disappointed to miss a season with our community, but safety must come first. Thank you for your understanding, and check back next year!❄️⛸️
